What is a Summit Journey Guide?

Summit Journeys provides outdoor adventures throughout the state of Utah for people to explore and expand their notion of their abilities. Summit Journeys’s programs include outdoor/indoor rock climbing, canoeing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and overnight trips. Adventure Leaders must possess exceptional customer service, group facilitation, risk management, public speaking, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Adventure Leadership

  • Lead trips, facilitate large and small groups, teach technical skills, and ensure risk management

  • Supervise and mentor support staff, interns and volunteers on trips

  • Assist in the development and execution of guide and volunteer trainings

Equipment & Vehicles

  • Organize, maintain, and repair equipment

  • Drive 15 passenger vans, large trucks and trailers

Administrative

  • Assist in trip planning and adaptations

  • Assist with office projects.

  • Assist with outreach and special events

  • Give and receive feedback to co-workers and other staff
